Diego Armando Maradona was an Argentine footballer, football manager and sports manager, who played as an attacking midfielder, world champion in 1986 and world runner-up in 1990 with the Argentina national team. Nicknamed El Pibe de Oro, he is considered one of the greatest footballers of all time and by some the best ever. Over the course of his professional career that spanned twenty years he played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell's Old Boys. The World Cup in Mexico '86 was the apex of his success; in the quarter-final against England he scored the goal considered the goal of the century, just three minutes after scoring the hand goal renamed "mano de Dios".
